Princeville is home to an award winning Kauai golf course. The beautiful 18 hole Makai Course was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. and originally opened in 1971; it was re-opened in January 2010. This premiere course is sure to dazzle with award winning views, a rolling landscape, towering trees, and crystal coastline. The Makai Course is rated one of the Top 100 Greatest Public Golf Courses in America (Golf Digest 2015/2016), #3 in the state of Hawaii (Golf Week), and was named to the list of America’s “Top 5 Great Golf Settings” (National Geographic Traveler).
The Makai Course offer practice greens, golf carts, pull carts, club rentals, and lockers. There’s also a clubhouse and golf shop in case you want to purchase clubs or clothing. Be sure to keep in mind that proper golf attire is required, soft spikes only, and no 5-somes. The Makai Course offers lessons; ask about junior rates for lessons and play! If you’re interested, there’s also a sunset golf tour.
After a splendid day of golf, you just may want to take a break and relax on the lanai at the Makai Grill and Bar.

Princeville Golf Course
Princeville Golf Course, also known as “Makai Course,” is a par 72 with four sets of tees. You can choose between woods, a 9 holes course, or play the lakes or ocean 9- hole course or one of their advance courses that are for the elite. However you start your golf game, make sure you have enough film. The breathtaking trees, lakes, and Bali Hai ocean view, will have you feeling a hole in one on every hole. You also might want to take your clients there to seal the deal!
To get to Makai Course, take 560 HI-West from HI-56 North. Then continue on Hanalei Plantation Rd. Drive to Lei O Papa Rd in Princeville, and you will arrive at the beautiful golf course, the crown jewel of The St. Regis Princeville Resort. Here’s a map:
