Reasons to Visit Princeville Kauai

Kaua`i has something to offer everyone, and no place embodies that more than Princeville. Hidden away from the rush in the middle of the rugged north shore, it is a town of history and modern convenience, a place of rugged scenery and relaxing amenities. The middle ever-present mountains soar above you at impossible angles, lush forests beckoning around every twist in the road, and tropical beaches are everywhere you look (and some you have to look for). One thing is for sure, no matter why you visit, you’ll find a dozen more reasons why you’ll be glad you did. Learn all about the Princeville Kauai activities below:

Secluded Scenery

Lush and remote, forbidding yet welcoming, the Nā Pali Coast is a series of steep sea cliffs, remote beaches, and deep, emerald valleys accessible only by foot. Princeville Vacation Rentals is the perfect home base for exploring it, as the serpentine Kalalau Trail begins just 10 miles from your door. Rising and falling across streams and valleys, the trail winds for 11 miles across the base of the 4,000-foot high pali (cliffs). Decide for yourself if you want to tackle only the first two miles and relax at Hanakāpīʻai Beach (don’t miss the waterfall another two miles inland from the beach) or make the full trek to hidden Kalalau Beach (permits required). Other options to see the cliffs include helicopter tours and ocean charters in catamarans, inflatables, and kayaks. No matter how you go, the Nā Pali Coast is not to be missed.

“The Grand Canyon of the Pacific”

Behind the massive wall of cliffs is Waimea Canyon. Every bit as impressive as its Arizona cousin, the canyon plummets 3,600 feet in a sea of reds and greens, stretching for 10 miles across Kaua`i’s western spine. Two lookouts offer stunning views of the surrounding area, and hiking trails and hunting paths crisscross the canyon floor below. Drive yourself to Waimea (1 hour, 45 minutes from Princeville) or hire an organized tour charter with pick-up. This natural phenomenon will leave you in wonderment. Princeville Kauai Activites

We know it can almost be too difficult to pick a beach around Princeville, there are just so many. Some of our favorites include Lumahai, Hanalei Bay, Anini Beach, and Secrets Beach. The Queen’s Bath, just two miles away, is an amazing spot to watch the sunrise and lounge like royalty in the tidal pools warmed by the sun. Farther south, Poipu Beach was recently voted America’s Best. Located on the sunnier, leeward side of Kaua`i, Poipu has warm crescents of golden sand, natural wading pools, and excellent snorkeling, swimming, and surfing. Farther still, Barking Sands Beach literally sings to its guests, with 15 miles of perpetually sunny sand and dunes that go on seemingly forever. The sand grains here resonate with each wave and with every footstep in an eerie symphony of “barks.”

Even if you never leave the 10 miles around Princeville Kauai, you will experience things unlike anywhere else on Earth. Ride horseback on the beach, marveling at nature’s splendor, pamper yourself at the Westin Princeville Spa, or get to know your neighbors at Happy Talk Lounge.
