Even though it may seem as if it were only yesterday that you were welcoming the new year with champagne and noisemakers, the reality is we have entered the final months of 2019 and it’s time to start planning for the holidays. If your dreams for Thanksgiving involve more palm trees and less frosty nights, a getaway to Kapaa may be just the thing to bring a smile to your face and give you something exciting to be thankful for! This guide to planning your 2019 Kapaa vacation will ensure you don’t miss out on a moment of fun as you explore all that our area has to offer during Thanksgiving!

Thankful for Family

Many people either stay home on this particular holiday or travel only to see extended family, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with doing something for yourself on this holiday! Spending the day relaxing and enjoying the one on one time you don’t often get with your kids and spouse. Sit by the pool of your Princeville Vacation Rentals Thanksgiving escape and revel in the laughter of your children as they swim, dive, or simply sit by your side as they talk about how much fun they are having. Throwing out the rules of the holiday is the first step in making this year’s Thanksgiving the best you’ve ever had.

Thankful for the Feast

We all look forward to the turkey dinner we are going to devour on Thanksgiving, and even though you aren’t at home this year, there’s no reason why you can’t have the meal you love so much! Our fully equipped kitchens are cheerful spaces designed to make cooking easy, but if you don’t want to do the work, our local Safeway offers a Thanksgiving feast for purchase. They do the cooking—all you have to do is enjoy the fruits of their labors!

If a Thanksgiving feast with someone else prepping, serving, and clearing the meal appeals to you, restaurants such as Gaylords at Kilohana or Hukilau Lanai are known for creating a Thanksgiving meal you won’t want to pass up. Advanced reservations may be required, so keep an eye out a few weeks before the holiday.

More to Enjoy on Your Kapaa Vacation

As the last crumb of pumpkin pie is wiped away and you’ve taken your last sip of the coffee you enjoyed with the pie, it’s not quite time to end the celebration; the time-honored tradition of Black Friday shopping is a great way to make the party last! Surf stores, mall shops, and many other boutiques and home stores offer great gift deals that will make your family feel loved when opened. Christmas parades, Christmas fairs, and winter concerts in Lihue offer even more ways to enjoy the warm feelings generated by your long holiday weekend in Kapaa, and our Thanksgiving escapes will give an added sparkle to your getaway. Reserve your vacation rental today!

It seemed as if we just closed our eyes for a second and the summer was gone. Life goes by so fast the older we get, but that doesn’t stop us from enjoying every minute of every day that passes; it just makes us more determined to wrestle every bit of fun out of too short time on Earth! If your summer plans involve coming to Princeville for Labor Day Weekend, we’ve included this guide to all the fun Princeville activities can partake in to say farewell to summer on our island paradise. Labor Day Weekend signifies the end of summer, but it doesn’t signify the end of fun!

Lihue Sunshine Market, August 30th from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM, Vidinha Stadium

While not typically considered a Labor Day Weekend activity, our version of a farmers’ market makes it easy for guests to stock up on foodstuffs for their private celebrations. Featuring local produce, sweet smelling flowers, and a variety of other products that you never knew you needed until you saw them, the Lihue Sunshine Market is one of our favorite ways to kill a few hours on a summer afternoon!

Free Hula, Coconut Marketplace, August 31st from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM

There is nothing more Hawaiian, or more fun, than a hula show, and if you’re in the Coconut Marketplace in Kapaa doing some shopping or just exploring, take an hour to enjoy this free show! Offering a family-friendly way to enjoy your respite from work, don’t be surprised if your own little ones decide they want to learn to hula themselves after watching the dancers on the big stage!

Take a Walk Back in Time

The history of our island is a fascinating one, and while you’re taking the time to say farewell to summer, signing up for a walking tour of Waimea promises to be an unforgettable experience. Offering a fascinating glimpse into the past, it covers Captain Cook’s original landing spot and the history of our agricultural landscape. Guests can sign up at the West Kauai Visitor Center for this free activity (donations are accepted and appreciated).

BBQ/Pool Party in Your Princeville Labor Day Escape

Sometimes the most fun moments are the spontaneous ones you experience with no planning at all; hanging by the pool can be all the excitement you need! Grill the fish you caught on your morning fishing expedition, pick up your favorite beverages at the local grocer, and sit back and let the magic begin! But remember, you won’t have this much fun just anywhere. Reserve your Princeville Vacation Rentals vacation home away from home today!

Summer vacations are what we live for throughout the rest of the year, working hard at our jobs and chores and counting the moments until we are free once more! And as the clock ticks down ever so slowly towards those joyous days of freedom, we like to spend our waiting time working out the plans. What do we wear? What are we going to do? How hot will it be? Fortunately, your summer escape to Kapaa is guaranteed to be a cool one; our temperatures rarely rise above the mid-80s, and we at Princeville Vacation Rentals have compiled this list of cool treats to help you beat the summer heat should the temps rise much further!

The beach is also the best place to stay cool on the hottest days of the year! Kapaa Beach Park is just one of your many choices on the island of Kauai, and because it has picnic tables and public bathrooms, its one of the more popular places to visit for your “toes in the sand” fix!

Memorial Day is just a few short weeks away and the time to plan your unforgettable Princeville getaway is right now. This guide to everything Memorial Day in Hawaii will ensure every moment will be filled to the brim with excitement, adventure, and all-American fun!

Every Holiday Begins with the Beach

In other parts of the world, Memorial Day can be a day of uncertain weather events, but on the island of Kauai it’s another day in paradise, best celebrated with a swimsuit, sand, and the cool blue waters of the sea! Grab all your beach supplies and hike to your favorite spot; today’s all about fun and relaxation! Boogie board along the sand, dive under the waves, or stake your claim on the blanket and chill with that book you’ve been dying to read. It doesn’t matter how you play—all that matters is that you do!

Surrounded by Beauty This Memorial Day in Hawaii

It’s hard to go anywhere in Princeville or on Kauai without stopping in stunned delight at the sight of the beauty that surrounds you, and nowhere is that clearer than at the Hanalei Valley Lookout. Found along the Kuhio Highway, park your car and head to where the ocean breezes kiss your cheeks, the green of the verdant landscape practically hurts your eyes, and the sounds of nature appear more harmonic than the music of your favorite singer. It’s official: You’ve found your spot in paradise!

Barbecues, Pool Parties, and Tropical Drinks

The best parts of this holiday in paradise will be in the simple moments: the taste of fresh fish grilled on the barbecue, the feel of cool water against your skin as the sun warms your face from above, and the sweet goodness of Mai Tais and mojitos warming your soul. The smile on your spouses face, the giggle of your children as they splash in the pool—all of this and so much more can be yours when you reserve your Princeville Vacation Rentals holiday escape today!

Family vacations can be the most magical experiences of your life, especially when you plan your getaway in the paradise of one of Kauai’s most beautiful cities, Kapaa. Offering quiet moments that you’ll never forget, exciting activities that will draw you closer, and mystical adventures you’ll never want to end, your Kapaa vacation can be the trip of your lifetime. This complete family guide to our favorite hometown will ensure that you don’t miss a single moment of wonder!

Family Dinners That are Relaxing

When dining out with the family, it can often be difficult finding a place where everyone can order what they want; when you have children, finding kid-friendly restaurants can be even more difficult. In Kapaa, however, there are a few restaurants which offer a diverse menu that will please diners of all ages and a relaxed atmosphere that can calm even the crankiest of kids. The Ono Family Restaurant (4-1292 Kuhio Highway) is one of our favorites, offering Hawaiian specialties and delicious burgers for those with less adventurous palates. The Sleeping Giant Grill (440 Aleka Place) is another local favorite featuring fresh fish and tasty chicken tacos that can be enjoyed back at your Princeville Vacation Rentals vacation escape or al fresco on one of the many picnic tables that surround the establishment.

Out and About During Your Kapaa Vacation

Now that your bellies are full, it’s time to hit the town and discover the magic of paradise! Kapaa is a place where love reigns supreme, whether you’re a young couple just starting your journey together, a family in the midst of the craziness of life, or even an older pair in traveling through the golden years, and the activities and adventures you’ll find will appeal to everyone! Take a Fern Grotto cruise along the Wailua River and learn the history of Hawaii through stories told and songs sung as you enjoy the natural landscape of our island nation. Take a Hawaii Movie Tour offered by RobertsHawaii.com and walk in the footsteps of Elvis Presley, Harrison Ford, and a host of other superstars who have costarred with our island on the big screen. And finally, the Smith Family Garden Luau is the traditional way to celebrate family in Kapaa; learn how to hula, eat some great food, and enjoy the performances for a perfect ending to another perfect day during your Kapaa vacation!

Family and Your Princeville Vacation Rentals

Sometimes it’s the quiet moments that end up being the most magical ones: watching your youngest child fall asleep in one of our cheerful and friendly bedrooms with moonbeams kissing her cheeks, sharing a glass of wine and a smile with your favorite traveling partner on the deck that overlooks the sea as the sun sets over the horizon, or enjoying a night of board games and laughter on a rainy night. Reserve your Kapaa escape today and make your own memories in one of our beautiful vacation rentals!

Everyone has that one person in their life that is always there for them, giving unwavering support and unconditional love, even when they are not acting very loving. For most of us that person is our mother. Our moms have put up with dirty diapers, temper tantrums, and unreasonable teenage emotions, only to have us grow up and leave them alone, just when we actually become fun to be around!

When it comes time to start planning your Mother’s Day present to mom, do you really think a card and some flowers are enough? Can you picture her face when you hand her plane tickets to Kauai and a perfect getaway in Koloa? We can, and if you follow this guide to the perfect Hawaii Mother’s Day getaway to Koloa, you may just find yourself being acknowledged as the favored child!

Sleeping in is a Luxury

Let’s face it, in real life mom is generally the first to get up and the last to go to bed every night, so on this trip, we say let her sleep in, and when she is ready to awaken, serve her a nice breakfast in bed! Our Princeville Vacation Rentals rental homes and condos are equipped with gourmet kitchens and all the supplies you need to make her favorite dish. If you’re not domestically inclined, a little preplanning may be needed for a secret trip to Daylight Donuts at 4100 Rice Street #4. Who needs eggs benedicts when you can enjoy the sweet taste of the best donuts on Kauai?

Spoiling the One who Deserves It the Most on Hawaii During Mother’s Day

After a leisurely breakfast, it’s time to show mom that she really is the queen of your world with a visit to The Spa at Koloa Landing, 2641 Poipu Road. Offering a large variety of spa services, including an Ofuro Japanese Soaking Tub, an indulgent experience that will kick all her cares and worries to the curb, the glow on mom’s face will tell the whole story!

Time for the Beach

Quiet moments walking along the shore’s edge, napping under an umbrella as the ocean’s waves lull her into a refreshing sleep, or frolicking in the warm waters, feeling the suns rays warm her face is guaranteed to do her as much good as the spa time she just completed. We recommend a visit to Poipu Beach, one of Kauai’s top beaches!

A Dinner Fit for a Queen

As the sun sets over another perfect day in paradise, a visit to Eating House 1849 at 2829 Ala Kalanikaumaka Road A-201 is yet another perfect way to show mom how much she means to you! Honoring one of the very first restaurants in Hawaii, the Eating House, today’s version serves a sophisticated blend of Hawaiian classics from the past and modern new dishes that please the palate.

The Best Gift

The best gifts come from the heart, and the biggest hearts choose Princeville Vacation Rentals for the ones they love most. Spoil your mom as she so richly deserves by reserving your stay today!

Living on an island, you can bet that we eat a fair amount of seafood. Fresh, plentiful, and healthy, our love for the bounty of the sea knows no end. With that being said, however, we must confess that every so often we crave a slice of that gooey wonderfulness that has nothing to do with the sea. Served hot and loaded with toppings, our souls smile with every bite, and when you are visiting our island paradise, we can pretty much guess that at least one of the nights of your stay in our Princeville Vacation Rentals Hawaiian escapes your soul will want to smile as well! Here’s a list of the top five Koloa pizza places we visit whenever the craving for pizza hits.

Pizzetta, 5408 Koloa Road

Island life can get pretty expensive, so when we find a place that offers good food for reasonable prices, you, our treasured guests, are the first people we notify! Pizzetta is just that place. Featuring a menu of classic Italian meals and appetizers in addition to the pizza we just can’t get enough of, this reasonably priced spot will soon be your favorite!

Gourmet Pizza and Burgers by Merriman’s, 2829 Ala Kalanikaumaka Street Suite G-149

Merriman’s is generally known for their seafood, but this delicious offshoot proves they are good at whatever they do! For those times when only a pizza will do, their Hawaiian twist on the classic pie will have you rethinking the way you order. The Hamakua Mushroom, made with hamakua mushrooms, white sauce, truffle oil, and thyme, is absolutely our favorite, but they also offer a traditional pepperoni and sausage if classic is more your style!

La Spezia, 5492 Koloa Road

The pizza found at La Spezia could more accurately be described as flatbread, but we still count it as our favorite pizza restaurant. Serving the classic Italian dishes of the old country, but using locally-sourced ingredients, the pear gorgonzola flatbread topped with bechamel, gorgonzola, red onion, and pear is a special treat that never fails to raise our spirits!

Brick Oven Pizza, 2-2555 Kaumualii Highway, Kalaheo

The casual vibe and laidback atmosphere are Hawaiian, but the pizzas served here are created from 100% authentic old country recipes. Brick Oven Pizza is a family favorite offering an extensive menu of Italian favorites in
addition to the pizzas, all homemade and baked to perfection in high temperature brick ovens. We think it will be your family’s favorite as well!

Homemade by You

The kitchens in our Princeville Vacation Rentals Hawaiian escapes are designed to be used, so why not take an evening to stay in and enjoy a fresh and delicious pizza made by you? Pick up the ingredients you need at Whaler’s General Store, located at Suite E10-50, 2360 Kiahuna Plantation Drive (They sell frozen pizzas too, if you’d rather take it easy!), and spend some time enjoying your vacation accommodations as you create your culinary masterpiece! Reserve yours today and discover why sometimes it really is nice to stay in and relax while on vacation.

There is no shortage of beautiful places on the Hawaiian island of Kauai. But the community of Princeville is surely one of the most luxurious and conveniently located to take advantage of some of the best stuff happening on the island. It is an especially good place to make your home base on Kauai if you want to see some of the incredible parks that call this island home. Here are the most beautiful Kauai parks in Princeville.

Waioli Beach Park

Waioli Beach Park is a great place because it offers plenty of recreation and exquisite beauty. It sits exactly halfway between the two ends of the crescent shape of Hanalei Bay. As such, towering seaside cliffs and sandy beaches curve around you, making for incredible views regardless of where you look. You can find a shady spot on the vibrant, green lawn or take to the water, where you can usually find good opportunities for surfing. Find it at 5424 Weke Rd.

Kalihikai Park

You will find this one-of-a-kind beach park under a mile to the east of Princeville. Unlike Waioli Beach, you can always count on the water to be very calm here, thanks to the coral reef just beyond the shore. You can expect to see abundant wildlife, from tropical fish to sea turtles, making this one of the best places on the island for snorkeling or just going for a casual swim year-round! Find Kalihikai Park at 3727 Anini Rd.

Hanalei National Wildlife Refuge

The beach gets all the attention in Kauai, but the inland actually provides for some of the most beautiful sites you will experience while you are here. The best way to enjoy the sweeping hills and awe-inspiring vegetation of this park is to take it all in from the overlook along Kuhio Highway in Princeville. You can also see the sites of the refuge up close by going to the end of Ohiki Rd, where you will find the Okolehao Trailhead.

The Most Beautiful Homes in Princeville

When you are not adventuring through Princeville’s parks, rest easy knowing that there are so many beautiful places for you to call home in this vibrant community. There is no better testament to this than the selection of quality vacation rentals from Princeville Vacation Rentals.
