When you think about fall, chances are thoughts of cool, crisp nights, pumpkin spice drinks, and warm sweaters and corduroys will begin to fill your mind, and in most places in the United States, this would be a realistic scenario. But this is Hawaii, and nothing could be further from the truth. Hawaii is where you go when you can’t bear for summer to end, and fall in Princeville is pretty much the same as it is the rest of the year. If you’ve decided to visit Kauai but you’re unsure when to come here, we recommend fall! Warm and sunny with tropical breezes that feel soft against your skin, Hawaii is the island that fall has forgotten, so if you are ready for your summer to continue a little longer, here are some events and activities that will keep you occupied and happy during your stay in paradise!

Luau Kalamaku

It’s always a good time for a luau in Hawaii, and the Luau Kalamaku is one of the best of its kind! Featuring fire and knife dancers, stories of our past, and food and drinks that will make your stomach smile, participants can also explore the grounds of the Kilohano Plantation, play games, and so much more during this once in a lifetime experience.

Hike to a Waterfall

The Secret Falls are our favorite, and reaching them is relatively easy when taking the trailhead next to the Wailula River on the east side of the island. Start by water (boat, canoe, kayak) and then hike to the top. The views from the top are amazing, and while the trail is a bit muddy, this is one time getting dirty can be fun; swimming under a waterfall is the best way of getting clean!

21st Annual Coconut Festival

The humble coconut is a versatile fruit, offering refreshment and survival, and the Coconut Festival celebrates all that is wonderful about this special nut. If you’re in town on October 7th, Kapa’ a State Park is where you should be!

Plan a Golf Trip

Near perfect weather year-round means a visit to Princeville should have a round or two of golf at the Makai Golf Course listed at the top of your vacation itinerary. Voted one of the top 100 greatest public courses by Golf Digest, this lush and verdant course is our favorite!

Stay Home and Play

Make yourself a Mai-Tai and sit out on the veranda enjoying the sun shining down on the lush landscape that surrounds you. Turn on the big game in your Princeville Vacation Rentals living room and participate in the age-old tradition of “vegging-out,” or just enjoy quiet conversations with the ones you love most. Life on vacation doesn’t mean you have to spend every second doing SOMETHING.
