Aloha Princeville Vacation Rentals Ohana!
On the east side of the Garden Island is a crescent shaped bay about a quarter of the size of Hanalei Bay that we think is one of the most relaxing spots on Kauai. Watch this video and we think you’ll agree that a trip to Moloa’a is well worth it while here on vacation.
If you are coming from your Princeville vacation rental, head south on the highway until you come to the Sunrise juice stand. Make a hard left. If you’ve come to Anahola, you’ve gone a bit too far. After making the sharp left, head down about one mile and keep your eyes peeled for Moloa’a Road. It’s on the right. Go right and then slowly follow this road down to the water. Please make sure not to block in other cars or impede locals from getting in or out of their driveways. Like many places here on Kauai, it’s a tight entrance with not too much parking, so be respectful of those folks who live here. Smiles and shakas are also a great way to break the ice when heading into someones neighborhood to take in the sights.
Use this Google map if the directions weren’t enough. It’s worth the trek, because when you get to the beach, you’ll be rewarded with THIS!
There’s not much surfing here and only a couple of really safe spots for the little kids to swim, but there’s lots of beautiful waves breaking in all directions, tons of white sandy beaches to relax on, and the beach is sparsely populated. There are lots of little trails you can hike in both directions once you’ve hit the sand. Look north and south to find trail heads. Here’s a video from the waters edge to give you an idea of just how amazing this place is.
There are some Princeville vacation rentals down here near the bay that range from beachfront estates all the way down to shared apartments where you can rent a room relatively inexpensive. You’ll definitely need a car because it’s a couple miles off of the main highway, so make sure to rent something that will allow you to get in and out of the bay area if you’re staying down here.
Hiking, swimming, and relaxing are three of the main things that you think about when Moloa’a comes to mind. It’s kind of smack dab in the middle between Kilauea and Kapaa, so bringing some food from the grocery store, as well as your favorite beverage, is a great idea, because there’s no services here like a grocery store or place to buy beer.
If you are looking for Zen, a place to chill out and stretch or work on your tan, this is probably a prime spot.
Some of the words that come to mind when you think of Moloa’a are are country, family, and mellow times. It’s also an epic place to read a book or listen to your favorite podcast.
